This client contacted us to turn her front yard into a “Pollinator Paradise.” To achieve this goal, EC3 removed the majority of the turf in the front yard and planted a diverse mix of over 25 species of native grasses and wildflowers with a variety of bloom times to ensure beautiful blooms throughout all seasons. One of the species planted, Lupinus perennis (Wild Lupine), is the host plant of the endangered Karner Blue butterfly.

Even smaller native plantings, such as this one, can greatly help the populations of pollinators like the Karner Blue butterfly. Other pollinators that will be attracted to this paradise include monarch butterflies, native bees, and hummingbirds. We’re so excited to see the progression of this planting and the pollinators it will attract!
