Ecological landscape design that connects people to place.

Introducing the Deep Roots Studio…

Our designers are trained as landscape architects but have additional experience in habitat restoration, native plant ecology, community open space planning, and placemaking. The overlap of these skillsets is what makes us ecological designers.

Deep Roots is a true design-build landscape studio. Our full-time crews will build what our designers help you imagine. Our design office is in the same location as our shop, and our designers collaborate closely with installation and maintenance crews (you’ll probably see us out there planting together!)

Our Designers

Marcy Huffaker

Marcy earned her Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois and has been designing ecological landscapes for over 25 years. She is a long-time resident of Baraboo, Wisconsin and enjoys maintaining the prairies and gardens where she lives with her family, along the Wisconsin River.

Connor Rudmann

Connor earned his Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona (near Los Angeles) and worked on habitat restoration projects in California before moving back home to the Midwest. He now lives in Monona with his wife and young daughter.

Our Work

We work at all scales of landscape design. From single-family residential gardens to community open spaces, parks, and commercial landscapes–our designers apply sound ecological principles to all of their projects.

The EC3 Advantage

As a division of EC3 Group, Deep Roots can leverage the expertise of the company’s three other divisions. Whether its woodland tree care, prairie and wetland restoration, sports turf maintenance, or snow removal, EC3 is a one-stop-shop for your ecologically-minded land management services.
